If necessary, you can always add additional levels of breeder tubs and shelves stacked on top of each other. The best part about our python racking system is they are strong, dependable, and highly versatile. Whether you are breeding pythons or housing them, these racks are a perfect choice. In fact, these python racks accommodate every brand of plastic breeding tubs, no matter their size.

Additionally, you can rotate your python racking system 90 and change the size by exchanging the space between the tubs. When you purchase a python racking system from us, you will receive a heat cable. Clips and ventilation are built into the shelves to keep the heating cable in place and leave enough space for proper ventilation. Heating tape can also be applied on top of the clips to ensure the tubs are receiving enough heat and ventilation. This allows custom heat on every level of your python racking system.

Our python racking systems vary in size according to width, depth, and height. You may need a larger python racking system with 11 levels or a hatchling rack with only 7 levels and 14 tubs, as we can accommodate your python racking needs. All our racks come with different levels and a number of tubs, so you can house or breed any number of pythons and reptiles.

Our python racking system is easy to clean, and the tubs are durable, so they do not fall out. If you have any questions about our python racks and python racking systems, contact us today. One of our experts will answer any questions you might have about our reptile racking systems.

Ball pythons are one of the most popular of the python species kept in captivity today. This is due to their relatively small size, calm nature and astonishing color variety. There are well over 100 different color and pattern mutations of the ball python and more are produced each year. With such a tremendous variety of colors and patterns there is just about something for everyone!

So what is a morph? Well a morph is a unique physical appearance which differs from how the snake appears in the wild. For instance, ball pythons are usually brown in color with light brown patterns between dark brown spots. However, there are ball pythons that are all white in color. Some are orange in color and so on. All of these are different morphs.

While young snakes require small enclosures (this ensures that they feel safe), adults require larger enclosures. An enclosure size of at least 36 x 16 x 12 inches should be large enough for the snake. The REPTI ZOO 67 Gallon Reptile Glass Terrarium, which cost $410, should be large enough for the ball python.

We will go into more details further on. Ball pythons are carnivorous and should be fed rodents. They accept pre-killed rodents. 25 frozen pinkie mice can feed an average-sized ball python for several months. This will cost about $75.

Ball pythons require moderately high humidity. The humidity level within the enclosure should be around 60%. When the humidity within the enclosure is low, slighting misting the enclosure can help increase humidity levels. As such, a spray bottle may be necessary. The spray bottle should be one that produces a fine mist. The Driew Plant Mister is an excellent choice and costs about $10.

Lamps may not be enough to keep the enclosure warm, especially at night. A heat mat installed underneath the terrarium allows the snake to warm its underside. These should be used with thermostats to avoid overheating. The iPower Reptile Heat Pad, which costs about $22, is ideal for ball python enclosures.

Make sure you run thaw the frozen mouse and warm it up before offering it to the python. This will trick the snake into thinking the rodent is alive. You may also need to wiggle the rodent in front of the python to simulate the movement of a live rodent.

The price of the snake is not the only cost. Setting up the enclosure can cost more than acquiring the snake species, but not always. Feeding and potential medical expenses all add up to the cost. It is prudent to know the overall cost of a ball python before acquiring a pet snake.

Adaptations: Ball pythons are terrestrial, nocturnal hunters and have adapted to hunt better at night. Above their lip they have heat-seeking pits, which are able to detect wavelengths of light in the infrared spectrum and the signal is processed visually, meaning, they are capable of seeing a thermal image of their surroundings giving them an advantage in hunting in the dark as well as seeking out refuges when temperatures are too hot or cold.

Ball pythons are ambush predators; they will sit and wait for their prey to come to them. Ball Pythons (like other snakes) do not have moveable eyelids. Instead, they have a special clear scale that covers the eyes, making them appear to be always awake. Not having eyelids allows the Ball Python to refrain from blinking and keep its cover when it is camouflaged. Once a prey is close enough, the ball python will grab the prey and wrap tightly around it.

The ball python adult can grow from 3 to 5 feet in length and can have a life expectancy of 20-30 years. Female ball pythons typically grow to be larger than adult ball python males. The reasons behind this sexual size dimorphism are fascinating, but all it means for the typical pet owner is that they should look for a female pet ball python if they want a big snake.

Like most reptiles kept as pets, ball pythons have a large variety of morphs. Short for morphology, this refers to genetic variations that are specifically bred for their unique properties. The most popular morphs have unique patterns or bright colors, but some are more controversial than other.

Pythons can be humanely killed on private lands at any time with landowner permission - no permit or hunting license required - and the FWC encourages people to remove and kill pythons from private lands whenever possible.

Live pythons may not be removed from these areas. However, python skins or meat may be kept for personal use. Python skins and leather products may be sold. PLEASE NOTE: Burmese pythons from Everglades National Park have been found to have very high levels of mercury; therefore, meat from pythons harvested in Florida may not be recommended for human consumption.
