Late Night Double Feature
During a late night taping of Dr. Nasty's Cavalcade of Horror, bloody chaos takes place while screening two features (Dinner for Monsters and Slit). Samantha/Nurse Nasty is frustrated with how the show is being run by its womanizing director and its drunk and crazy host, Dr. Nasty.[3]
Late Night Double Feature
Full of audience participation and ever-evolving traditions, late-night productions of the film have been a cult phenomenon for four decades. The film initially premiered in Los Angeles in September of 1975 but was not widely released and was largely considered a failure.
I read about the movie years before I actually saw it. In my small, Northern Ontario town back in the day, there were no late-night (or any time) showings, but I read about them in the rock magazines. I recall being quite taken by the photos of Tim Curry in his fishnets. (I later learned that many women found themselves surprised by how much they were taken by Tim Curry in his fishnets.)
Brooklyn's premier dinner-and-a-movie venue takes the late-night double-feature format to extremes. Nitehawk's overnight horror-film fest features five decades of scary classics: House on Haunted Hill (1959); A Bay of Blood a.k.a. Twitch of the Death Nerve (1971); Poltergeist (1982); Scream (1996); and a brand-new top-secret film that won't be revealed until that night. Drink specialty cocktails made with Owl's Brew and come prepared for a costume contest and trivia. A free breakfast with eggs, tots, Fazenda coffee and a cereal bar provided by Post cereals will be served to those who make it through the night. 041b061a72
